WHY I BELIEVE IN MONTESSORI

I fell in love with Montessori education when I was given the opportunity to work for an AMI certified guide.

I love how it is based on self-directed activities, hands-on learning and how it provides an environment that supports natural development.

KAITLYN O’HARA

PRE-PRIMARY TEACHER

EDUCATION

I went to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for early childhood education. I have been apart of the school since January of 2023.

WHY I BELIEVE IN MONTESSORI

I discovered the Montessori philosophy while I was pregnant with my daughter. I was searching for a way of learning that would help her achieve her milestones and discover how different materials and objects worked. With Montessori I found more than I could have imagined. Montessori has helped build her confidence, grown her independence, and helped her experience things through hands on learning. I LOVE that I now get to share the Montessori philosophy with every child that comes in my classroom and hope to provide them with a warm and nurturing environment.

ABOUT ME

I was born on February 19.

I am happily married and have one child. I love being outdoors with my family, whether we are playing in the yard with our golden retriever, going to the lake or exploring new places. I also love a good cup of coffee and a relaxing day at home.

WHY I BELIEVE IN MONTESSORI

The Montessori Method was something that I was introduced to in college. I quickly fell in love with the philosophy after seeing it in action while completing my degree. One crucial part of the philosophy is the focus on the intrinsic values of learning and working rather than the extrinsic values. The Montessori Method creates an environment where children work and learn for inherent satisfaction rather than for some separable consequence. This love for learning when fostered in a supportive, child-centered environment builds a passion to continue seeking knowledge as the child grows. It’s wonderful to see the children working happily in an environment best suited for them.
